Our 3D Scanner Could Make Dental Impressions a Thing of the Past!

Posted .

Do you remember when if an orthodontist needed an impression of your smile they might have to mix up some sticky plaster-like putty for you to bite on? Then you may have had to sit there for a few minutes while the putty hardened, and after that you needed to brush your teeth to rid yourself of the chalky texture. We are pleased to say that those days could well be in the past with our Cadent IOC 3D Scanner!

At Quality Orthodontic Care, in Johns Creek, Georgia, our Cadet IOC 3D Scanner makes it where we can accurately digitally scan your mouth. The scanner can produce incredibly accurate images that even allows our orthodontist to capture the contours of your palette and gum tissues, which can help us provide you with better care. The instant feedback that this scanner provides can helps us to create your treatment plan more readily.

Our scanner may tell us to begin with your lower jaw and we can then move the scanner over each section of your mouth. You may be able to watch our monitors as a 3D image of your mouth begins to form. After each tooth’s surface has been recorded, we may also want to record how your teeth come together when you bite down. This can simply be done by scanning one segment on each side of your mouth while you bite, and the computer can stitch the rest together.
