We use a special dental cement to bond the braces’ brackets to your teeth. Though it dries quickly, the cement will take 24 hours to completely bond to the surface of your teeth. However, this does not impede your ability to eat after leaving our office. You may want to only eat soft foods as you adjust to wearing braces. We also ask that you avoid sticky, hard and crunchy foods that can damage your braces.
The braces may feel like they are sticking out when you first receive them. You will get used to this feeling after time and as your teeth shift into a straighter position. Irritation from the rubbing of brackets is also common after you first receive braces. A simple solution to this problem is the application of dental wax over your brackets. Your teeth may ache and feel sore after you first receive braces. This discomfort is temporary and can be controlled with nonprescription pain medication.
